This piece is a self-portrait based on outdoor garden statuary (specifically garden gnomes). I visited a lawn ornament factory in a ramshackle section of East Boston to pick up some tips on sculpting and casting outdoor sculpture. The sculpture is cast in concrete and painted with an airbrush. The clothing is based on my own winter outerwear.
